Peg Tyre, author of the New York Times best seller The Trouble With Boys: A Surprising Report Card on Our Sons, Their Problems at School and What Parents & Educators Must Do, will speak at Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart, a school for boys in grades junior kindergarten through eight, on Wednesday, February 10th at 7pm.
In 2006, Ms. Tyre wrote a cover story for Newsweek titled “Boy Crisis” in which she discussed the ways boys are falling behind in school and what some schools are doing about it. The response to the article was overwhelming and inspired her to research and write The Trouble With Boys, which was published in 2008 and received the prestigious Books for a Better Life award in 2009. Tyre’s book attempts to frame a discussion about education and gender in a new way, taking a serious look at what is ailing boys in school and what parents and educators can and must do to engage boys in school.
The lecture is free and open to the public, but registration is requested. For more information and to register to attend, please call the Office of Admission at Princeton Academy of the Sacred Heart at 609-924-8143 or visit the school’s website, www.princetonacademy.org, to register online.
