One Book One Jewish Community—
Are you reading along? The entire Jewish community of Philadelphia and
beyond are reading Martin Fletcher’s The List. Special Guest Speaker,
John Naar, international spy during WWII, will speak about his
experiences as a Jew in the British spy agency, MI-5, during the time
when the book The List is set. A major in the British Secret Service
and Special Operations Executive in World War II, author/photographer,
Jon Naar leads the discussion on “The List”, a book by Martin Fletcher
on survivors of the Holocaust. All are invited to come to Adath on
Sunday, February 26th at 9:45am for our annual One Book One Jewish
Community event that will be entertaining as well as enlightening. We
will be treated to a lively discussion in which Jon describes the
parallels between his life and the many events documented so accurately
in this remarkable book. Jon plans to make the discussion very
interactive as he describes the many ways that his unique life
intertwines with the events in the novel. Whether or not you have read
or completed the book, you will certainly find the discussion relevant
to your lives as it details a very difficult time for the Jewish people
following the end of World War II.
