Christmas Services at Princeton United Methodist Church
Celebrating the birth of Jesus, more than 50 singers and musicians from Princeton United Methodist Church (PUMC) will present a free program of lessons and carols on Sunday, December 19 at 7:30 p.m. at Princeton United Methodist Church (PUMC), located at Nassau and Vandeventer. Hyosang Park, music director, will lead the Chancel and Handbell choirs, and Yvonne Macdonald will direct the High School choir in beloved carols and hymns. The accompanists are Mitchell Garcia, Akiko Hosaki, and Anthony Baron. A Longest Night Service, to be held on Tuesday, December 21, at 7:30 p.m., offers prayer, meditation, and reflection for those for whom the holidays may bring painful memories, “The theme of light in the darkness runs through this service which is being held symbolically on the winter solstice - the longest night of the year,” says Pastor Catherine Williams. On Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24, Senior Pastor Rev. Jana Purkis-Brash will lead two candlelight services, one geared to families with children at 6 p.m. and a “Service of Light” at 8 p.m. PUMC is a diverse congregation whose members come from many surrounding communities, backgrounds and faith histories. Worship services are at 9:30 and 11 a.m., with Sunday School for all ages at 9:30 a.m. and children’s church at 11. For information call 609-924-2613 or visit https://www.princetonumc.org.
