The Greenville College Choir Will Appear in a Sacred Music Concert at Miller Chapel
The Greenville College Choir, Greenville, Illinois, under the direction of Dr.Jeffrey Wilson, will appear in a sacred music concert at Miller Chapel located at Princeton Seminary in Princeton on March 17 at the hour of 8pm. The choir’s Eighty-ThirdConcert Season will include appearances in the Midwestern United States.
THE GREENVILLE COLLEGE CHOIRwas founded in 1927 by Dr.Robert Woods and gave its first public performance at the inauguration of Dr.Leslie R.Marston as president of Greenville College that same year.Since then, the Choir has attained a widespread reputation for performing sacred choral music of the highest quality. In celebration of its 75th Anniversary, the Choir took its’ first overseas tour in January, 2002, an extended Heritage Tour ofEnglandwhere it performed in leading English cathedrals and churches.The Choir servedas choir-in-residence at the Calvin Symposium on Worship in Grand Rapids, Michigan during January, 2007. The GreenvilleChoirwas invited to perform inFebruary, 2008at the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) Central Division Convention in Grand Rapids, MI. The Choir’s second international tourwas in March of 2008, when it sang inAustria, Hungary and Romania. In November, 2009 the Choir performed with the Boston Camerata in the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis Cathedral Concert Series. Membership currentlyconsists of undergraduate students from various fields of study;rehearsals are held four times a week, and as many as twentyoff-campus performances are heardeach year as part of the annual tour.
