PRINCETON REGIONAL SCHOOLS

The Princeton Regional School District serves students from Princeton Borough and Princeton Township as well as from a few neighboring communities. It is governed by the non-partisan, autonomous Board of Education, made up of 9 non-paid members representing the Borough and the Township. Princeton residents play an important part in the governing process, both through organized parents' groups and through individual service on committees and task forces.

In addition to the core curriculum, the schools offer instruction in vocal and instrumental music, art, and physical education. Approximately 90 percent of the total school population goes on to college. Sex education is taught by the school nurses. Through the guidance of district-based psychologists, social workers, and learning consultants, the district evaluates students for special education and/or related services as mandated by State and Federal statutes. Some of those services include Basic Skills instruction, Bilingual Education, English as a Second Language programs, Resource Rooms, Speech Therapy, Developmental Physical Education, and Home Instruction.

In 1990-91, over 2500 students were educated in the Princeton schools. Projections for the next ten years show a growth pattern that could yield 3000 students by the 1995-96 school year.

Emergency school closings are announced on radio stations WHWH (1350 AM) and WKXW (101.5 FM).

To register children for school, parents should call the School Board Administration. 924-5621
