LE CORBEAU AT Firedance Studio During Hopewell Tour Des Arts 2010 October 9 and 10
Artist le Corbeau is participating in the Hopewell Tour Des Arts 2010 on October 9th and 10th, presenting several cast bronze sculptures which have never before been exhibited. Created in the early 80’s, the Platter Series are cast bronze still life compositions, at once seemingly casual and classically allegorical. le Corbeau brings together forms from various sources, creating narratives about nature and relationships.
“Le Corbeau's work is characteristically Surrealist in that he most often assembles "found objects" into provocative relationships creating three dimensional metaphors. Like many traditional Surrealists, le Corbeau is seduced by the beauty of the objects he chooses, and when asked whether his motives were aesthetic over metaphoric, he insisted they were equally important.
Edith Cullen Innis,
“When one comes to my studio it is quickly evident that many things interest me. The binding thread, however, has to do with metal. Jewelry, sculpture, decorative objects, and furniture are all part of the story now. I celebrate this diversity, though others may be confounded by it. My curiosity about life combined with dreams and a little poetry all come together as unpaid assistants, the result of which typically produces new artwork. In most cases, my background in jewelry and sculpture come together in a way that continues to excite my imagination.”

Currently exhibited at other venues are “An Angel in Despair” at The Jenkins Arboretum, Devon, PA in their year-long “Wind in the Trees” exhibition, and “Mercury Torchiere” at Artworks, Trenton, in their “Made in Metal exhibition”.
