Mountain and Valley Fest Activity Schedule September 17 – 19 Most activities are free, but donations are always welcome Baldpate Mountain’s Lost Settlement – People, Places, Lanes & Legends of Honey Hollow Friday, September 17 – 7:30 p.m. Howell Living History Farm Visitor Center - GPS: 70 Woodens Lane, Lambertville, NJ 08530 Free, reservations not required. Although many people walk Baldpate Mountain’s trails, few are aware of the vanished settlement which once existed there. Bob Koppenhaver will shed light on Honey Hollow, its former inhabitants and their homes, their lanes and their legends with his illustrated talk. Family Mountain Bike Tour Saturday, September 18 – 9:30 a.m. Baldpate Mountain – Pleasant Valley Road Parking Area, 1.2 mile west of Rt. 579, Titusville Free, reservations not required. Bike and learn with bike expert Pete Garnich of Knapp’s Cyclery. Where to ride on Baldpate, safety tips, and trail etiquette will be covered. Bring your own bikes. Helmets required. Sketching Landscape in Hopewell Valley Saturday, September 18 – 10:00 a.m. Howell Living History Farm Parking Area – GPS: 70 Woodens Lane, Lambertville, NJ 08530 Free, limited to 10 people. Registration required. Register at ruthjour@aol.com Walk and sketch with local artist Ruth Jourjine. Participants will walk a short distance near the farm and enjoy the beauty of nature while making a personal record of what they see. Ecology Hike Saturday, September 18 – 10:00 a.m. Baldpate Mountain – Pleasant Valley Road Parking Area, 1.2 mile west of Rt. 579, Titusville Free, reservations not required. Mercer County’s largest intact forest is located on Baldpate Mountain. Pat Sziber, FoHVOS Executive Director, will talk about forest structure and some of the animals, especially birds, that utilize this special habitat . We will visit a forest restoration project along the easy 3-mile hike. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Howell Farm Corn Maze Saturday, September 18 – 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19 – noon to 4:00 p.m. 17 Valley Road, near Belle Mountain – ½ mile east of Rt. 29, 2 miles south of Lambertville No reservations needed Age 13 & up - $8 Age 5 – 12 - $5 4 and under – free
Horse-drawn Wagon Rides Saturday, September 18 – 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Howell Living History Farm Parking Area – GPS: 70 Woodens Lane, Lambertville, NJ 08530 Free, reservations not required. The popular Fall Tillage Wagon Tour around the historic farm. Wagon Rides at Belle Mountain Sunday, September 19 – 12:30 to 3:00 p.m. 17 Valley Road, near Belle Mountain – ½ mile east of Rt. 29, 2 miles south of Lambertville Free, reservations not required. Tractor-drawn wagon rides to the top of Belle Mountain, overlooking historic Pleasant Valley Family Hike Sunday, September 19 – 1:00 p.m. Baldpate Mountain – Fiddler’s Creek Road Parking Area, ¼ mile west of Rt. 29, Titusville Free, reservations not required. A one-mile hike up to the summit of Baldpate Mountain. Depending on conditions and abilities, we will hike either the moderately challenging Summit Trail or the rustic road. Wear sturdy shoes and bring water. Ice Cream Making and Tasting Sunday, September 19 – 1:30 p.m. At the Cabin atop Baldpate Mountain – Fiddler’s Creek Road Parking, ¼ mile west of Rt. 29, Titusville Free, reservations not required. Following the family hike, try your hand at making some refreshing ice cream the old fashioned way with Kim Daly of the Howell Living History Farm. Summit Celebration Sunday, September 19 – 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. Baldpate Mountain Visitor Center “Strawberry Hill” – Shuttles from Fiddler’s Creek Road Parking $40 per person. Reservations required by September 14.
