October 10, 2010 from 11-4

The Third Annual Hopewell Tour des Arts will take place this year on Saturday October 9 from 10 until 5 and Sunday October 10 from 11 until 4. This event will be held rain or shine.

The Tour begins at the Historic Hopewell Train Station in Hopewell Borough at 10 am. Maps for the self guided tour can be picked up here and at The Brothers Moon. The map will also be available online at www.hopewellarts.com.

The self guided studio tour map will give directions to the local artists and their studios. One of the stops on the tour is the Highland Design Farm on Van Dyke Road. Formerly the Highland Poultry Farm, chicken coops were converted in the 70’s to artist studios. Presently several artists have studios, Sean Mannix, designer/craftsman; Beth Judge, jewelry; Arlene Smith, painting and sculpture;  Ric Stang, wood turner; John Plummer, painting; and Alex Goldberg, painting.

The event is sponsored by the Hopewell Economic Development Committee. “Hopewell and its surroundings are home to a diverse and accomplished arts community”, says Morpeth, whos gallery on Broad Street is one of the stops on the tour.

In the town the New York Times compared to Vermont, the metal work of Francois Guilleian, the woodwork of Dieter Lique, the paintings of Janet Laughlin and the paintings of Ellie Wyeth is just a sampling of what can be seen on October 9 and 10, 2010.
