Roxy Ballet Company of Lambertville is kicking off the 2010 holiday season with Tchaikovsky’s beloved holiday classic The Nutcracker with four shows on Thanksgiving weekend, November 27 & 28. The company is scheduled to perform a special Educational Matinee on Monday, November 29. By popular demand, four additional performances have been added December 4 & 5.

This is a true community production featuring the professional dancers of the Roxey Ballet Company,  as well as more than one hundred children and adults from Hunterdon, Mercer, Somerset and Bucks counties who perform as happy party goers, giant rats, spinning snow flakes, tiny mice, dancing flowers, and Mother Ginger and her flock of polichinelles.

The lavish production is a fun, lighthearted interpretation of the classic story which opens with Clara sleeping, dreaming of her handsome prince. After young Clara receives a wooden Nutcracker as a Christmas gift from a mysterious and magical party guest, she finds herself in the midst of a battle between the Mouse King, and the Nutcracker and his soldiers. After his victory, the magical spell is broken, and Clara and the Nutcracker go on a voyage to the Land of the Sweets where they are entertained by dancing snowflakes, Spanish, Russian, Chinese and Arabian Dancers and, of course, the Sugar Plum Fairy and her handsome Cavalier.

Whether it's your first time or part of an annual tradition, The Nutcracker is a perfect holiday treat for your entire family. Witness this show as celebration of the Roxey Ballet’s 16th annual presentation of The Nutcracker.
