(TRENTON) — The Employee Giving Fund of Church and Dwight awarded a grant of $10,000 to the Crisis Ministry of Princeton and Trenton. The grant directly supports the rent assistance budget of the Crisis Ministry’s Homelessness Prevention program. The program, which also includes assistance for clients struggling with utilities or mortgage payments, has helped 695 families to remain stably and safely housed in 2011.
Carolyn Biondi, Executive Director of the Crisis Ministry, said, “We are grateful for the generosity and leadership shown by the employees of Church and Dwight.” The grant was presented by Church & Dwight representative Angela Olsen, who also has volunteered for the Crisis Ministry.
The Church & Dwight Employee Giving Fund, Inc. (“EGF”), is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which was established in 2005 to support charitable organizations primarily in New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania, the region where the corporate headquarters is located and where many employees reside. The EGF is a workplace giving program supported by employees’ contributions that are matched dollar for dollar by Church & Dwight Co., Inc. The EGF provides employees with the means to financially assist low-income people and to actively support and participate in the initiatives of not-for-profit organizations with similar goals.
A non-profit, 501(c)3 program, the Crisis Ministry partners with the community to achieve stability for neighbors in need. Founded in 1980 by Princeton’s Nassau Presbyterian Church and Trinity Episcopal Church, the organization assists some 1,400 individuals and families each month who seek access to quality food, emergency housing assistance, and employment training and mentoring. The Crisis Ministry also partners with Capital Health System to provide bimonthly health screenings hosted by First Presbyterian Church of Trenton and with Rutgers Extension Service for bilingual nutrition education.
