Ringoes, NJ—July 8, 2010— As part of its “Be a Steward of the Earth” program, Rutgers Landscape & Nursery will be donating 2% of all sales to the New Jersey Tree Foundation from June 18 - August 15, 2010.
The NJ Tree Foundation is a state-wide non-profit organization dedicated to planting trees in New Jersey's most underserved neighborhoods. As of 2010, the New Jersey Tree Foundation has planted 154,878 trees with thousands of volunteers. Its successful programs include the community-based Newark Renaissance Trees Program (NRTP), the Urban Airshed Reforestation Program (UARP) in Camden, Green Streets, Celebrate Arbor Day, and the 9/11/2001 memorial - the Grove of Remembrance.
Rutgers Nursery’s Steward of the Earth program consists of a number of initiatives that aim to bring awareness of environmental issues and funding for green projects throughout our community. Initiatives include beautification projects, customer participation events, garden competitions, sustainability projects, as well as fund raising and donations.
Lisa Simms, Director of the NJ Tree Foundation said, “I applaud Rutgers Nursery for its commitment to help the NJ Tree Foundation plant trees across the state, and we are proud to be part of the company’s “Be a Steward of the Earth” campaign. By planting trees and building stewardship, each of us is enhancing the environment, building community pride, and enriching the quality of life for all.”
On May 15, 2010, Ms. Simms represented the NJ Tree Foundation with a booth at Rutgers Nursery promoting her organization and its cause. “We are delighted to support the New Jersey Tree Foundation. They do some very important work and we’d love to see them grow”, says Kyle Conway, General Manager of Rutgers Landscape and Nursery.
