Princeton, New Jersey – February 18, 2010 – In response to the Haitian earthquake, the local Princeton community came together and raised $11,000 for The American Red Cross. Thank you to all businesses, organizations and individuals within the Princeton and surrounding communities who immediately and generously opened their hearts and agreed to participate in Community Response - An Evening to Benefit Haiti Earthquake Relief on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 4-9 PM. As hosts of the event, the Nassau Inn family is grateful to everyone able to rearrange their schedules after the inclement weather lead them to postpone the event from February 10th, and still participate and attend on the snow date. Jim Byrnes, Food &: Beverage Director of the Nassau Inn, initially came up with the concept of the Community Response benefit as members of the Nassau Inn family were waiting to hear news of their loved ones. After an evening of ticket sales of $25 at the door, raffles, a silent auction and straight donations, the Community Response fundraiser raised more than $11,000. 100% of all proceeds go to the American Red Cross International Response Fund to directly benefit the people of Haiti struck by the earthquake. Diane Concannon, director of public relations and JoAnn Hoppe, manager of financial development, represented the American Red Cross of Central New Jersey at the event. “The American Red Cross is extremely grateful to all who participated in the Nassau Inn’s February 16th Community Response fundraiser to benefit Haiti Earthquake Relief,” said Diane Concannon. “The outpouring of support from so many of the Princeton area’s finest establishments, along with the hard work and dedication of the Nassau Inn staff, embodied the true community spirit that can make a difference and help people devastated by horrific disasters.” The response from the community was astounding; including 31 local restaurants and beverage companies, 50 retailers and 12 service providers. The full list of contributors below made this event a huge success. No one should go unnoticed, as this was truly a community effort everyone will remember. The entire event from concept to results was pulled together inside of three weeks! Parking fees for all local garages on Hulfish, Chambers and Spring Streets were donated by Palmer Square Management and the Borough of Princeton for all attendees of this event. “The Nassau Inn and the many restaurants throughout the Princeton Region that participated in Tuesday evening’s Haiti relief event should be commended for the great job they did bringing our community together to support this cause.” -Peter Crowley, President and CEO of the Princeton Regional Chamber of Commerce On Behalf of Nassau Inn, we thank each and every contributor for participating in an Evening of Community Response Benefiting The American Red Cross International Relief Fund.
