Dance Asia

Dance Asia

The beautiful wonder of the Orient is brought to the stage in Dance Asia, a spectacular production of Chinese dance and culture starring two of China's most renown performers, Qi Shu Fang, nicknamed the "Little Tigress", and Ding Mei Kui. Audiences of all ages thrill to the exotic costumes and athletic movements of Chinese dance. Acrobatics abound. Brilliantly colored ribbons swirl into intricate patterns. Dancers leap with flashing sabres. Dance Asia is a feast for the eyes, ears, and spirit. Each dance will be explained as to the origin of the dance, the meaning of the colors used, and the cultural implications of the costumes. There will be a question and answer period after the show.

My Fair Lady

My Fair Lady ActorsNET, known for its superb direction and artistry, enchants us with this musical classic. Outside Covent Garden on a rainy evening, disheveled cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle meets linguistic expert Henry Higgins. After delivering a musical tirade against "verbal class distinction," Higgins tells his companion Colonel Pickering that, within six months, he could transform Eliza into a proper lady, simply by teaching her proper English. The next morning, face and hands freshly scrubbed, Eliza presents herself on Higgins' doorstep, offering to pay him to teach her to be a lady. "It's almost irresistible," clucks Higgins. "She's so deliciously low. So horribly dirty." He turns his mission into a sporting proposition, making a bet with Pickering that he can accomplish his six-month miracle to turn Eliza into a lady.

Radio Gals

Radio Gals

Radio Gals is a musical by Mike Craver and Mark Hardwick, set in the late l920's, and concerning an enterprising woman, Hazel Hunt, of Cedar Ridge, Arkansas who, upon her retirement as the town music teacher, receives a Western Electric 500 watt radio transmitter and begins broadcasting as radio station WGAL. What comes out over the local airwaves is a small town diary, calendar, and stream of consciousness -- sort of a Molly Bloom crossed with the Farmers' Almanac -- with generous dollops of singing and playing by Hazel's "all-girl" orchestra, "the Hazelnuts", and that lovesick flapper Gladys Fritts.
