ANNUAL MEETING OF THE GENERAL MEMBERSHIP
HOPEWELL VALLEY CHORUS

APRIL 27, 2009

The Annual Meeting of the General Membership of the Hopewell Valley Chorus was held on Monday, April 27, 2009. 

The meeting was called to order by the president of HVC, Marilyn Licciardello at 8:30 pm.

 The first order of business was the election of officers.  A printed slate of the nomination of officers was distributed to the membership. 

 The Nominating Committee had proposed the following slate of officers for 2009-2011:

 Vice President/Membership :  Chris Piatek

 Finance Director:  Sandy Stein

 Treasurer:  Christina Rowntree

 Public Relations:  Kate O'Neill

 There were no further nominations from the floor.

 Bob Woodford made a motion to accept the slate of nominees; the motion was seconded by Carole Woodford, and the slate of candidates was elected by a majority vote.

 The second order of business to be discussed was the Annual Budget.

 The Treasurer, Christina Rowntree, distributed a printout of the Annual Budget report for the HVC.  She explained that there are some "extraordinary things" going on this year, mostly due to the upcoming celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the HVC. 

We need more money for instrumentalists for the 50th Anniversary concert, and  will need a bigger venue, which will cost more.  The commissioned piece of music for the 50th Anniversary concert will cost additional money that is not normally figured into our yearly budget.

The income from the 50th Anniversary fundraisers does not appear in the income column, as we cannot be sure as to how much will actually be raised.

 Christina reported that we raised about $12,000.00 in fund raising in 2008, but we are only at about $3,600.00 for the Spring Fund Drive so far this year (2009).  Donations are continuing to come in.

There will be one scholarship awarded in 2009.

The proceeds from Cabaret and Cabernet are for the 2010 budget, and have not been estimated in this budget.  So far, 75 tickets have been sold for this event.

Dan Shaffer made a motion to accept the Annual Budget report; the motion was seconded by Marcia Snowden and the membership voted to approve the Annual Budget.
