Plan Ahead

And

Rest in Peace

If you believe

that by informed planning you can spare your family unnecessary anxiety and expense at the time of your death;

 If you realize

that such planning is as sensible and natural as making a will or buying life insurance;

 If you would like

accurate and up-to-date information on the practical details of funeral arrangements, cremation, burial, methods of donating organs or bodies to medical science, and, above all, a clear and sensible method of implementing your wishes;

 Join the

Funeral Consumers Alliance of Princeton, no matter what your age.  It’s never too early to plan ahead.

FCAP

FUNERAL CONSUMERS ALLIANCE

OF PRINCETON, INC.
Formerly the Princeton Memorial Association

 The greatest obstacle to free choice in  making funeral arrangements is the mystery that surrounds the physical and financial facts of death. Planning a funeral should be a simple business transaction, a purchase of services. What makes it different from  buying a home or car is the speed with which it must be done, the emotion involved, and the lack of knowledge of the average consumer.

The Funeral Consumers Alliance promotes choice  through education. By informed planning, members can make arrangements that will encourage both the acceptance of death and the affirmation of life for those left behind.

DID YOU KNOW?

·          Most individuals never share their funeral wishes with their family members.  FCAP members receive instructions on how to communicate this information, sparing relatives from difficult, expensive decisions.

·          The average cost of a “traditional” funeral in the U.S. is now over $6,000.  FCAP members usually purchase simpler services for a fraction of the cost.

·          Embalming and fancy caskets are not required for cremation or burial.  FCAP members avoid unnecessary procedures and expenses by pre-planning.

·          A safety deposit box is a poor place to store your funeral instructions.  FCAP members learn who to notify before the time of death.

·          When a body is not displayed, memorial services can be held almost anywhere. FCAP members learn about various options, including community halls, parks, churches, synagogues, homes.

·          Even if death comes suddenly and an individual has not pre-planned, relatives can enroll the deceased in FCA and save money.

How it Works...

  • Once you receive your membership kit, complete Putting My House in Order.  Keep a copy for your personal file, make a copy for your next of kin.

  • Upon death, your survivors simply contact the mortuary of your choice and pay for services directly.  They may not even have go to the mortuary.

  • Pre-payment is not necessary and is in fact discouraged.

  • Your family should notify FCAP of your death so we can update our records.

  • If death occurs out of town, relatives can contact the national FCA office (800-765-0107) toll-free to find a nearby alliance office.  If you move, your membership can usually be transferred to another FCA for a small fee.
