Community Day at the Updike Farm August 6, 2011

On Saturday, August 6th, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., at the Updike Farmstead on Quaker Road in Princeton Township, the Historical Society of Princeton invites children and families to a very special day of community.

In conjunction with the new exhibition, Caring Kids in the Community, the day will include a community mural project, letter writing to the U.S. Troops and musical performances by The FunkTASKtiks, the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen’s band, between 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.

Visitors are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch to enjoy on the lawn of the farmstead.

Caring Kids in the Community explores the wide-ranging efforts of young people who seek to make a difference in people’s lives through community service. The show features three organizations from the Princeton region: West Windsor’s Kids-for-Kids, the NJMTA Children Helping Children Performathon and Princeton High School’s sophomore year of service.

In the spirit of community, HSP is offering free admission with a donation of school supplies to benefit the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen Annual School Supply Giveaway. Suggestions include pencils, pens, crayons, highlighters, spiral notebooks, pocket folders, composition books, notebook paper, book bags and calculators.

Location:  Updike Farmstead, 354 Quaker Road, Princeton
