RWJ Hamilton Foundation Hosts Family Fun Day June 18

Family Fun Day will return to the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital Hamilton campus on Saturday, June 18, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. The event is organized by the RWJ Hamilton Foundation’s Young Professionals Group and this year includes a special celebration of the 10th anniversary of the hospital’s Level II Special Care Nursery, which cares for premature infants.

Sean’s Landscaping – a Hamilton company with clients statewide – is the presenting sponsor of festivities that include musical entertainment, trackless train rides, magic shows, moon bounces, obstacle courses, touch-a-truck displays, crafts, activities such as parachute play and sack races, and carnival games with prizes.  Roaming characters from area sports teams will also interact and entertain.

Access to all of the kids’ activities is available for one flat rate per child ($10 wristband) and adults are admitted free of charge with their paid youngsters.  Fun foods and vendor wares will also be available to purchase.  Proceeds raised at Family Fun Day benefit the RWJ Hamilton Foundation, which provides financial support to hospital initiatives.

“Many members of the Young Professionals Group either have young children or plan to some day, so supporting RWJ Hamilton is something we feel passionate about. We volunteer our time to help ensure that the hospital’s programs are enhanced through our fundraising,” says Jeannine Cimino, a board member of the RWJ Hamilton Foundation and chair of the Young Professionals Group. “This is a great day to celebrate children and this year we have the added honor of celebrating the hospital’s ability to support families with premature babies through its Level 2 Special Care Nursery.”

Families will also be able to view talent demonstrations as well as browse vendor displays and sales.  Area businesses are invited to participate in the event by sponsoring a display space, offering a demonstration, or selling wares.  Vendor and sponsorship information is available by contacting Lynne Nouvel, RWJ Hamilton Foundation development director at 609.584.6476 or via email lnouvel@rwjuhh.edu.

Last year’s event drew over 2,000 attendees and celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Lakeview Child Centers affiliated with RWJ Hamilton. Staff from each of the seven accredited centers will be on hand again this year, leading children in games and activities.

The RWJ Hamilton Young Professionals Group members are young leaders in the community who support the fundraising efforts of the Foundation and serve as a resource to the leadership of the Hospital through involvement on various committees.

Families with children cared for in the Level 2 Special Care Nursery will be treated with a VIP party, including a reunion with doctors and nurses. The Level 2 Special Care Nursery provides a high level of care for premature infants using a family-centered approach. Neonatal nurses and board certified neonatologist physicians staff the hospital 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The nursery is equipped with state-of-the-art technology. The hospital’s maternity tour includes information about the nursery; call 609.584.5900 to schedule.
