NEW Childrens' Drama Programs at the Arts Council!

NEW THIS FALL AT THE ARTS COUNCIL…
THEATRE CLASSES FOR CHILDREN
(AGES 3-10)

BEGINS MONDAY OCTOBER 25TH

REGISTER NOW TO SAVE YOUR PLACE!

MAMA & ME: FUN WITH FOLKTALES (Ages 3-4)

This class is for parent or caregiver and a child 3-4 years of age.  Adult and child will explore the world of folktales, where wise animals talk, peasants feast, and goodness is always rewarded.  Through dramatic play (become one of the characters!), music, movement, and visual art, this class will use popular stories and songs from around the world as springboards for imaginative creativity.  Each week will introduce a story or song with new themes to inspire participants (Anansi, Stone Soup, and so many others).

ADVENTURES UNDERCOVER (Ages 5-7)
Mysteries and magic await these participants!  In this creative role-playing class, students will be empowered to explore their own imaginary world and characters.  As pirates or princesses, detectives or villains - while solving mysteries or uncovering treasures - students will come together as an inventive theatre ensemble to create their own stories.  Basic acting and ensemble skills will be taught each session, with an emphasis on self-expression, team work, and active listening.  These tools will be used to guide students through their imaginative world.  Along the journey, they will be encouraged to think on their feet, react, adapt, and have a blast!

THE PUPPET JUNKET (Ages 8-10)
Designers and dreamers welcome!  This class will integrate the visual and performing arts through hands-on work and creative self-expression.  Students will learn the techniques of building a puppet from scratch (pop-up puppets, hand puppets, marionettes) and will bring them to life through music, movement, improvisation, or sometimes just a simple breath.  Students will have a chance to share their newfound craft and puppetry skills with families at the final class.
