BIO,  Terri Rossman:
Terri Rossman, M.S.-CCC- Speech-Language Pathologist
Terri Rossman, MS, CCC, is a speech-language pathologist in Princeton, N.J., who has more than 30 years of experience helping individuals of all ages overcome speech, language, academic, and social communication difficulties. For the past 20 years, she has owned and operated Princeton Speech-Language & Learning Center, a multi-specialty group practice that serves clients from throughout Central New Jersey. Terri specializes in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with social cognitive/social skills difficulties, language-based learning disabilities, auditory processing disorders, social anxiety, executive functioning difficulties, ADHD, Asperger syndrome and high functioning autism.

Terri holds a BA from Ithaca College in Speech Pathology and Audiology and a MS from Boston University in Communication Disorders. Her interest in working with social cognitive deficits began in 1992, when a client who was later diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome intrigued her. By 1995, it was becoming increasingly evident in her practice that there was a great need for services for individuals who were struggling with social communication difficulties, in spite of their good language skills. As a result, Princeton Speech-Language & Learning Center became one of the first clinics in the area to offer  “social skills groups.” The groups bring together students of similar ages and abilities for weekly therapy sessions aimed at improving social thinking skills so students can more easily “fit in” and establish and maintain friendships.

By 2000, more and more clients were being referred to the center for social communication deficits, many with diagnoses such as ADHD and social anxiety as well as high functioning autism and Asperger syndrome.

Parents come to our office concerned by their child's social behavior and lack of fitting in with their peers. They seem to lack the ability to perceive how others are viewing them, and therefore, have difficulty adjusting their behavior. They want them to have friends, but they don’t always know how to make or keep friends.

After years of professional development and implementing social skills intervention with many clients, she then became the first clinician in New Jersey to participate in an intensive mentoring program conducted by Michelle Garcia Winner, a nationally renowned expert in the field of Social Thinking and related Social Skills.

Terri is the recipient of several Awards for Continuing Education granted by the Continuing Education Board of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association. In 2000, she received the Leadership award for Innovative Practices from Scientific Learning Corp., makers of the research- based Fast ForWord series of computer based- language programs. Terri has presented in–service workshops to school personnel, speech-language pathologists and parent groups in New Jersey. She is passionate about providing the highest quality of services for her clients, and she is committed to ongoing parent and staff training.
