PRINCETON, NJ, November 7, 2011 – Stuart Country Day School of the Sacred Heart announced today that five Stuart students have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) for outstanding performance on the 2010 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®). Over 1.5 million juniors in 22,000 high schools nationwide entered the 2012 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Christina Chun of West Windsor and Juliana Karp of Princeton have been named Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program and will have the opportunity to compete for up to 8,300 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $34 Million in the spring. The semifinalist pool of 16,000 represents less than one percent of US high school seniors, and includes the highest-scoring entrants in each state.
Jennifer Liu of Pennington and Alisha Mehndiratta of Skillman have been named Commended Students in the National Merit Scholarship Program. A Letter of Commendation from the school and NMSC were presented by Mrs. Anne Soos, Head of Upper School, to these scholastically talented seniors. About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation placed among the top five percent of students who took the test.
Tilar Martin of Princeton has been named an Outstanding Participant in the National Achievement Scholarship Program, a program administered by the NMSC specifically to honor academically promising Black American high school students. 3,100 students scored in the top 3 percent of more than 160,000 Black Americans who requested consideration in the 2012 National Achievement Program when they took the 2010 PSAT/ NMSQT®. A recognition certificate has been presented to Ms. Martin in honor of her outstanding achievement.
