The Gallery at Chapin to Feature Charles David Viera “Birds and Beast” from January 3 - January 27, 2012

The Gallery at Chapin will feature the work of Charles David Viera in an exhibit entitled “Birds and Beast” from January 3 through January 27, 2012.  A reception for the artist will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, from 5 p.m. -7 p.m. In case of inclement weather please check the Chapin School website www.chapinschool.org or call (609) 924-7206 to know if the reception is being canceled or postponed.

Charles David Viera’s paintings at Chapin will be a concentration of birds and animals, although he paints all subjects. “I have been very fortunate to have been able to be creative and allowed to be an artist for my entire life.” explains Viera.  “The paintings on display at Chapin are a small and recent selection of the paintings that I have done in my lifetime. With these animal paintings and drawings, I have reached a compromise between my academic training and my expressionist instincts. The beauty of nature embodied in these bird and animal images seems to be the perfect vehicle for this union of contrasting ideas. My style has varied over the years and I will continue to experiment with paint in the future. My hope is that the viewer will take the time to look, consider, and enjoy these works.”

Charles David Viera has a long history as an artist and educator. He has been on the faculties of some of the best art schools in the country, including The Brooklyn Museum of Art, Pratt Institute, Long Island University, and Parsons School of Design. On a more regional level, he has taught at Bucks County Community College, Flemington Art School and Marymount College. Currently he is teaching at the Arts Council of Princeton and the Hunterdon Art Museum in Clinton, New Jersey.

Viera’s work is included in numerous private and public collections and has been exhibited nationally including exhibitions at the Adam Gimbel Gallery and the Brooklyn Museum in New York.

In addition to the artists’ reception, the exhbit can be viewed by appointment during school hours between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m..  The Chapin School is located at 4101Princeton Pike, Princeton, NJ.  To make an appointment to visit the gallery, please call 609-924-7206.
