Fourth Annual Hopewell Tour des Arts October 8 & 9, 2011

The Fourth Annual Hopewell Tour des Arts will take place this year on Saturday October 8 from 10 until 5 and Sunday October 9 from 11 until 4. This event will be held rain or shine.

Hopewell’s Tour Des Arts takes visitors inside artists’ studios. The Tour begins at the Historic Hopewell Train Station in Hopewell Borough at 10 am. Jim Webb will be displaying his ceramics in the train station. Lucia Stout and Joyce Parkinson will be displaying paintings in the freight shed on Rail Road Place. Maps for the self guided tour can be picked up here and at The Brothers Moon. The map will also be available online at www.hopewellarts.com.

The self guided studio tour map will give directions to the local artists and their studios. One of the stops on the tour is the Highland Design Farm on Van Dyke Road. Formerly the Highland Poultry Farm, chicken coops were converted in the 70’s to artist studios. Presently several artists have studios, Sean Mannix, designer/craftsman; Beth Judge, jewelry; Arlene Smith, painting and sculpture;  Ric Stang, wood turner; Daniella Bittman, painting; John Plummer, painting and Alex Goldberg, painting.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity for Hopewell to celebrate the incredible diversity of artistic talent in our community”, Webb says, “Also, its a chance for surrounding communities to get to know the range of artistic talent in Hopewell. The Tour shines light on Hopewell, which is full of wonderful small businesses, including top notch restaurants and art galleries, all of which contribute to making this town a fabulous place in which to live.”

The Tour also includes: Deiter Lique, woodwork; Janet Keller Laughlin, painting; Alissa Keller Laughlin, sculpture/jewelry; Joseph Petrovics, sculpture; India Blake, photography; Lynn Ebling, baskets/ceramics; Tom and Terence Johnson, metal; Charles Katzenbach, painting/sculpture; Connie McIndoe, ceramics; Ken McIndoe, painting; Thom Montanari, painting and Clem Fiori, photography

The event is co-sponsored by the Hopewell Economic Development Committee.
