Local Garden Center Wins National Award, Named One of Today’s Garden Center Magazine’s “Revolutionary 100”
Ringoes, NJ, (2/16/2011) – Rutgers Landscape & Nursery joined the ranks of the horticulture industry’s top independent garden centers when it was named one of Today’s Garden Center magazine’s Revolutionary 100. The program, now in its sixth year, surveys garden center owners and managers and culminates in a listing of the 100 most revolutionary garden centers in the nation. It is open to all independent garden centers, large and small, and is based on leadership and innovation, not on size or revenue. “The staff here at Rutgers works very hard to make our nursery a beautiful, informative place to visit. We are honored to have been selected.” says Leslie Boss, Nursery Manager. Garden center owners and managers across the United States fill out an extensive online questionnaire covering topics such as employee training, industry involvement, profitability, marketing, use of technology, purchasing, and customer and community service. The entrants are ranked according to a point system, and the 100 top entries make the list. Rutgers Landscape & Nursery is a premier full-service landscape design, installation and retail nursery located in Hunterdon County, NJ, serving customers in NJ and PA since 1986. Its 20 acres of growing fields provide much of its stock. A main aspiration of the nursery is to serve as an educational reference to the community for all things horticultural. Rutgers offers many seminars and hands-on workshops throughout the season. “The garden centers that made this year’s list are an exceptional group of forward-thinking, innovative retailers who are always striving to differentiate themselves from their competition,” says Today’s Garden Center Editor Jennifer Polanz. “We are proud to call them revolutionary.” The 2011 Revolutionary 100 Awards program is sponsored by one of the premier industry suppliers for greenhouse structures, Nexus Greenhouse Corp.
