Pre-Schoolers Invited to Dress Regally for Andersen’s Fairy Tale at Princeton Festival's Bookfair December 13, 2011
Hans Christian Andersen’s popular fairy tale “The Princess and the Pea” will be given a lively reading during storytelling at10:30 at Princeton Festival’s Bookfair on Tuesday, December 13 at Barnes & Noble, 3535 Route 1 South, in the MarketFair Mall, Princeton, NJ. Pre-schoolers are invited to attend the storytelling wearing their Prince or Princess costumes – or any other regal attire that pleases them – including the ever popular Princess cone with a veil. A lavishly attired fairy godmother will be in attendance to grant fairy tale wishes of the young audience. The Princess and the Pea is the basis for the musical comedy, “Once Upon a Mattress”, which featured Carol Burnett in its Broadway debut. “Once Upon a Mattress” will be performed in June 2012 at the annual Princeton Festival celebration of the performing arts. This preview at the Bookfair offers parents, grandparents and tots a chance to enjoy this fun and endearing story about a Prince’s search for a real Princess. The reading will also include other favorite children’s stories as well as coloring. Throughout the day, the Princeton Festival will host additional events to attract audience members of all ages to celebrate the season while shopping at Barnes& Noble. At 12:30 in the event area, a brief video will show backstage scenes at the Festival, then Artistic Director Richard Tang Yuk will have a conversation about the annual Princeton Festival. In the evening, at 7pm, professional opera singers will perform traditional Carols, and lead a singalong of seasonal favorites. Shoppers need only mention “The Princeton Festival,” or use a Princeton Festival Bookfair voucher, when they purchase anything on Dec 13, and it will be credited to the donation that will be provided to the Festival.
