Free Child Safety ID Day at YWCA Princeton September 10, 2011
The YWCA Princeton will host a free Child Safety ID Day on Saturday, September 10th, 2011, from 9:30 to 2:30 pm in the main building. The event is open to the public and sponsored by New York Life Insurance Company of Edison, NJ. Members and non-members are invited to attend.
New York Life Insurance of Edison and the YWCA will provide free child identification kits that include all the tools parents and legal guardians need to preserve a complete record of their child. The kit includes a photo of the child, fingerprints, and a physical description of the child.
In addition to the free identification kits, attendees are invited to watch scheduled judo classes from 8:00am-10:00am and to learn more about the YWCA’s fall programs aimed to help one promote, protect, and prosper. The Princeton Borough Police Department will also present a Child Safety lecture in the morning.
“Parents have told us that they like that they receive two wallet-sized ID cards and the processed identification kit to take home with them that day,” said Maya Youssef, New York Life Insurance agent and sponsor. “The goal is to have this information quickly available in the event of an emergency to give authorities.” The information provided is not held nor maintained by the sponsors or the police.
If a child becomes missing the critical information in the Child identification Kit would be available for use by law enforcement agencies. New York Life staff will take photographs of the children and assist with fingerprinting. There will also be a height chart and scale on site to take accurate measurements.
“Education and empowerment are at the core of everything we offer.” says Diane Hasili, YWCA spokesperson. “By increasing self-confidence and self-esteem, children become empowered in their own safety and well-being.”
