New Classes Offered at ScienceSeeds

CLASS: ALL ABOUT CHEMISTRY
January 17th - March 20th, Tuesday 4:00pm-5:00pm
Trinity Church - 33 Mercer Street - Princeton NJ
Are you a curious young chemist? Investigate the properties of water, oil and various household liquids. Which of these liquids freeze? Do these liquids all look alike? What happens when you mix or shake them? Use your newfound knowledge to understand how density can be used to make art! Through various experiments, kids learn some fundamental science skills including observation, prediction, comparison and classification.

CLASS: ROBOTICS FOR BEGINNERS
January 17th - March 20th, Tuesday 5:15pm-6:45pm
Trinity Church - 33 Mercer Street - Princeton NJ
An introduction to Robotics .Children are guided through hands-on experiments where they design and build robots the LEGO Mindstorm system (for older students). The children work in teams, honing their engineering skills while learning to work as part of a larger group. Students will learn basic programming skills as part of this class. The programming languages used will have a graphical user interface but basic concepts such as loops, conditionals and structured programming will be introduced.

CLASS: CHEMISTRY FOR YOUNG MINDS
January 12th - March 15th, Thursday 4:00pm-5:00pm

In this class, your young scientist will learn some basic chemistry principles Play with mixtures and learn the difference between solids, liquids and gases. Become a “mad mixer” and turn everyday substances into your own weird concoctions. Expand your scientific vocabulary as you expand your powers of observation. What better way to learn than through the texture and sometimes taste of a good mess.

CLASS: SCIENCE AND THE ANATOMY OF A CITY

From the physics of motion to electricity, to environmental science and chemistry come and explore science in a totally new way. We will be learning about structures, electricity (how does the grid work), magnetism, pressure (ever wonder how you get water to all these tall apartment buildings) through hands-on experiments and projects. Cost: $85.00

Join us for a day of discovery as we examine famous inventions and how they changed our lives. From scotch tape to coca-cola, fountain pens to generators, and Johannes Guttenberg to Henry Ford, share the excitement as you trace back through the science and try your own hand at building some of these inventions. Projects may include building a motor, making a small generator, or building a telegraph. Each child will take home his/her project.

CLASS: ELECTRIC FUN

What is electricity and where does it come from? In this project based class, we will investigate simple circuits, learn simple facts about electricity and batteries and apply your new knowledge to building flashlights, making electric powered vehicles and simple toys. CLASS: SCIENCE TOYS
January 20th - March 16th, Friday 9:30am-10:30 am & 1:00pm-2:00pm
West Windsor Arts Center - 952 Alexander Road, West Windsor, NJ 08850
Intended for our youngest students, this course introduces very young children to science and to scientific thinking. We learn to examine and explore things around us and use scientific language to describe events that we see. We apply this knowledge to build our own toys. Projects may include building a flashlight, making a kaleidoscope, building a pinball machine and many others.
