Social Psychologist and Best-selling Author Susan Newman to Speak at Princeton Junior School May 19, 2011

Susan Newman, Ph.D.
 
 
Social psychologist and best-selling author Susan Newman has written 14 books in the relationship and
parenting fields. Her research and books explore such areas as building strong family bonds, the keys to
friendship, preventing drug use among children and teens, raising only children, and much more.
On May 19th, join us for an informal talk and discussion about parenting topics including:


o Parents and children in overdrive—how fast is too fast? 
o Is your child missing childhood?
o Great Expectations for our children may be too great.
o Saying NO to your children; getting off the “yes” treadmill.
o Building family bonds.
o Plus: Does your child need a sibling?  The growing trend toward single-child families.

CBS and FOX News discussing breaking news and social and parenting concerns.


Her work has been featured in Harvard Magazine, Redbook, Ladies Home Journal, Woman’s Day, Parents,
Cosmopolitan, USA Today, The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Monitor,
and other major newspapers and magazines. Dr. Newman blogs for Psychology Today Magazine. The Learning
Channel’s Surviving Motherhood series, MTV/Nickelodeon Network’s ParentsConnect and Club Mom use Dr.
Newman as a family and relationship expert; she has also contributed to many books on relationship and
parenting topics.


Dr. Newman was a part-time lecturer at Rutgers University in New Jersey and is a member of the American
Psychological Association, the New Jersey Psychological Association, the Authors Guild, and the American
Society of Journalists and Authors and is a Court-Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for abused and
neglected children. She is the stepmother of four children, and the mother of one. She lives in New Jersey.
