PDS Student Earns Eiffel Tower Prize
Princeton Day School third-grader Sam Bernardi of Rocky Hill won a grand-prize $500 scholarship in an art contest sponsored by the French Embassy and the American Association of French Teachers commemorating the 120th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower. Sam, pictured here with PDS Lower School French teacher Laurie Parker, was one of five grand prize winners among more than 3,000 participants in grades K-12 in the New York region who submitted original works of art celebrating the Tower. The prize was announced Nov. 13 during a cermony at the French Embassy in New York City. Inspired by the French love of fashion, Sam submitted a hand-painted a canvas bag reflecting the blue, white and red of the French flag, girders of the tower and the number 120.
