Letter Carriers Will Collect Food to Stamp out Hunger on May 9 - Delivery Goes to Mercer Street Friends Food Bank - For 23 years, the National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) has collected non-perishable food donations along postal routes across the nation on the second Saturday of May and delivered them to local food banks. In Mercer County, donations from Hamilton, Hopewell, Pennington, Princeton, Robbinsville and Trenton residents will be delivered to Mercer Street Friends Food Bank. Place non-perishable food items in plastic or paper containers (no glass containers, please) in a sturdy bag next to your mailbox or the place where your mail is delivered and the letter carrier will pick it up. The following is a list of suggested non-perishable food items to donate: Canned tuna, chicken or salmon; Single-serving fruit cups; Soup; Microwaveable Meals; Peanut Butter; Jam or Jelly; and Oatmeal Packets.


5-Day Course in the Orton-Gillingham Reading Program May 18 - May 22
Participants will learn how to teach their children to become better readers using the Orton-Gillingham reading approach, a program designed for use with students who struggle to read, write or spell. The class is perfect for parents, teachers and tutors of children with dyslexia or other learning difficulties.

Social Village Offers Opportunities for Socially Challenged Kids to Hang Out
Social Village is a place where kids ages 8-23 with social challenges get together with like-minded peers to enjoy clubs and activities.
Sunday Clubs - Our weekly Sunday Clubs provide a time for kids to get together and be social while participating in activities that they love. Every activity is designed to promote initiation, communication, collaboration, and socialization. Activites in May include -- Icebreaker Activities, Table Top Games, Lego Building Events, Creative Arts & Crafts, Collaborative Minecraft Experience, Guided Debate Club, Outdoor Activities and Interactive Electronic Experience. Friday Night -- Friday Night out provides an opportunity for kids to hang out with peers while parents have a date night or get things done without the kids around. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) for Children of Mercer County is currently seeking new volunteers! CASA is a non-profit organization that recruits, trains and supervises community volunteers who speak up in Family Court for the best interests of children that have been removed from their families due to abuse and/or neglect.
