D&R Greenway Land Trust and PlanSmart NJ invite the public to a panel discussion by experts on regional planning in land preservation. The May 30th program will feature Richard S. Goldman, Esq., Partner: Drinker, Biddle and Reath, LLP; Tom Gilbert, Chairman: NJ Keep It Green; Wade R. Martin, Senior Vice President: Martin-Rizzo Group of Morgan Stanley Smith Barney; Margaret Waldock, Program Director, Environment: Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation; Linda J. Mead, President & CEO: D&R Greenway Land Trust, and D&R Greenway Vice President Jay Watson. The group will share significant experiences acquired during preservation negotiations in New Jersey. Panelists will relate specific steps to success; vital financial aspects; crucial legal considerations; the increasing role of GIS technology in preservation planning and fulfillment; strategies to generate and maintain community involvement; as well as criteria utilized in choosing specific parcels for preservation,. Tom Gilbert, of NJ Keep It Green will cover the urgent subject of New Jersey's current and future sources of funding for open space, farmlands and historic preservation. Margaret Waldock will provide the philanthropic community's perspective on developing preservation strategies for our state. They will discuss ways in which open space benefits and involves community. D&R Greenway senior staff will provide concrete examples from the St. Michaels Farm Preserve in Hopewell and the Princeton Nurseries Allentown property, two of the most significant preservation successes in the last three years. An optional Question-and-Answer period will follow the formal program.
