SEVERE WEATHER POSTPONES FIREWORKS TO JULY 11
INDEPENDENCE DAY FIREWORKS POSTPONED TO JULY 11th Montgomery Public Safety officials have postponed tomorrow's Independence Day Celebration and Fireworks to the rain date of Thursday, July 11th. Severe weather and 80% chance of rain has been predicted for the Skillman area tomorrow evening. Public safety concerns for the large crowd anticipated must take precedence and the risk of lightning, rain and wind impacts are potentially too great. Vendors, including the pyrotechnicians, must be given 24 hours advanced notice of such changes. PRIORITY PARKING PASSES TO BE HONORED JULY 11th Pre-sold, reserved parking spots that provide guaranteed onsite parking will be honored on July 11th. Passes are still available for sale, in person, from 8:00 am to 6:00 pm M-F for $15.00 at the reception desk at the Otto Kaufman Community Center, 356 Skillman Road. Exact change or check only please. Any questions, please call the Recreation Department at 609-466-3023. PETS Please be kind to your PETS and leave them home. There will be an animal control officer at the event warning residents that animals are frightened by the fireworks and crowds and they may run away. Please - leave your pets at home!! ALCOHOL Reminder: Alcoholic beverages are prohibited at this public event. Picnic baskets are welcome. This event is completely funded by contributions from individuals, corporations, small business leaders, and fees from high quality vendors and non - profit organizations. www.montgomeryfireworks.org has more details on this 100% community supported event. Activities will include music, games, food and fun starting at 6:00PM and continuing to dusk. "It is always wonderful to see Montgomery join together, honor the nation, and enjoy a fun night out with our families and friends," said Mayor Ed Trzaska. The spine-tingling Star Spangled Banner will still be heard across the crowd. There will still be a wide variety of food and beverages to choose from and lots of fun activities for the children. There will also still be a 50/50 drawing. All this will culminate in the always amazing fireworks spectacular at dusk. The Montgomery Township Fireworks Committee wishes to thank all the individual and corporate event supporters, without whom the annual Montgomery Fireworks would not be possible. Questions? While public officials are also disappointed in the weather, Montgomery Township must always err on the side of caution for the sake of the public's safety. We apologize for any inconvenience due to the rescheduling.
