As an introduction to the Integrated Science curriculum "Materials Science", The Bridge Academy 7th - 9th grade students visited the Imaging and Analysis Center and the Micro/Nano Fabrication Laboratory at Princeton University’s Center for Complex Materials (PCCM).
In the IAC lab the students saw Scanning and Transmission Electron Microscopes in action as tiny particles were enlarged to 10,000x their normal size. In the MNFL lab the students donned “bunny suits” to protect the clean lab from any particles their bodies could bring in. After the lab tour, the students participated in a polymer activity using silly putty and kinesthetic activities.
The Bridge Academy of Lawrenceville, NJ is a state-approved private school for students ages 8-18 with language-based learning disabilities. Students attend from central New Jersey and Bucks county schools.
