Welcome to the Princeton Online Non-Profit Resource Link
A free resource to non-profit organizations
Through Community there is Cooperation
Princeton Online has started a Non-Profit Resource
Link (NPLINK) to allow member organizations to communicate more effectively with other non-profits as well as the public. This Web page provides information on the following:
NPLINK
1. Many technological breakthroughs such as the telegraph and
telephone have advanced the level of communication among
individuals, businesses and community organizations. The
Internet is another technological breakthrough, allowing Web
sites and e-mail to promote communication and interaction in a
more efficient and cost-effective way.
2. A list of organizations and the ability for each member to send
messages to, and receive messages from, every other member of the
list in a moderated fashion.
3. Princeton Online sends out a monthly electronic (e-mail)
newsletter to over 4,500 people who have asked to receive it. It
includes events, announcements and new additions to POL. Our
recipient list is growing every day and one of the uses of NPLINK
will be to ask member organizations on a monthly basis "do you
have anything you want to include in the POL newsletter" such as
upcoming events and changes to your Web sites.
Ideas for usage:
i. "My organization has a need for a reception hall in the Mercer
County area which can handle 250 people, music, and is reasonably
priced - any ideas?
ii. "Our organization was contacted by a large local company
looking for a significant volunteer project for its employees -
any suggestions?"
iii. "My organization needs to wire its remote offices together
and needs a qualified but reasonably priced solution - thoughts?"
iv. "Our organization needs to lease office space for a two year
period - 2,500 sq. feet in the Central New Jersey area - where
can we go?"
v. "I have a volunteer who we can't utilize. She wants to work
at home 5 hours a week doing word processing. Do any of you need
this service?"
Princeton Online:
Princeton Online is a community-oriented communication and
information technology company. Our best known incarnation is as
a Web site for Princeton New Jersey, where we have developed very
small to relatively large Web sites for over 150 community
organizations, the Borough of Princeton, and many
local businesses. Our goal has been to provide basic services to
the non-profit community free of charge, utilizing volunteers and
our own resources. We want to make a few points because we have
found that some organizations do not understand what we are all
about:
1. We are a web development and hosting firm. If your
organization is thinking about paying for design services, please
consider using Princeton Online.
2. Our newsletter, which is different than this list serve, goes
to more than 4,500 people who have signed up for information on
POL and coming events in our area. POL will use NPLINK to gather
information on events for inclusion in this newsletter. If you
have the need for a special announcement such as an employment
opportunity, and wish to place a classified in our newsletter -
we can do this for you at a reduced rate of $50 per inclusion.
(We charge businesses $100). There is obviously no charge to
have your events listed.
3. Over 70,000 people visit Princeton Online every month for
information on our many offerings. About 140 of the 250 NPLINK
member organizations have a free Web presence on Princeton Online.
Being a member of NPLINK does not mean you have to or should take
an active part. It may mean you simply listen in on what is
going on within our community. If you or your organization would like to become a member, please e-mail us at pgibson@princetonol.com or call (609) 737-7901. Please click here for a current list of members.
Regards,
Peter Gibson
President
