OUR PROGRAMS/ PROGRAMAS
The lack of ability to communicate in English contributes to the isolation of the Latino immigrant and the development of unhealthy conventional behaviors. Language is clearly an issue for Latinas Unidas clientele. With the implementation of the ESL program, we firmly believe that graduates of the ESL program will have a stronger grasp of the English language that will help them achieve their career, personal and financial goals.

SUCCESS STORIES
Here are a couple of success stories of clients who have benefited from our ESL and Counseling Programs.
The first one is the case of "A" (name withheld for privacy reasons), 21 yrs old, who came to this country from Colombia. She enrolled in the ESL classes during the week while she worked in a Bakery in the afternoons. She was always in the back of the store, cleaning or helping other workers. By the time of her graduation from the ESL class she shared her success-story with the class. She was moved to the front desk to take orders on the phone and deal with clientele. "A" improved her salary at work, her self-esteem and her desire to continue college education.
The second one is of a couple M. and E. (name withheld for privacy reasons), married with two children. They were both from Guatemala and were living in the US for the last 3 years. The husband was dealing with issues of distrust and obsession towards his wife. Constant arguments, questioning and yelling were hampering not only the communication between the couple but affecting their children as well. The clients after critical assessment agreed on therapy and on setting goals and plan to work on their issues. both of them met the therapist once a week for 1-hr sessions. They worked on healing their unhealthy childhood memories together and separately. After the fifth session the couple realized that the traumas from the past was really hurting their marriage and their children. They forgave themselves and each other and decided to work out their differences and continue with counseling to rebuild trust and work on their communication.
