November 8 , 2005
Rainer Beckmann

Those of you who were at this year’s spring workshop will remember Rainer as a wonderful recent addition to the recorder scene in our area. He charmed everyone who was there with his youthful enthusiasm as he led us through beautiful music that was new to most of us.

For this meeting he has planned a program that he calls “From Landini to Scarlatti: An Italian Extravaganza.” This journey through four centuries of Italian music will include dances from the Florentine carnival (late 15th
century) and Claudio Monteverdi's ballo Tirsi e Clori(1616), as well as a madrigal by Cipriano de Rore (1515/16-1565) and an instrumental canzona by Giovanni Domenico Rognoni Taeggio (? - before 1626). The program starts with a ballata by Francesco Landini (1325-1397) and finds its conclusion with some chamber music by Alessandro Scarlatti (1660-1725).

We look forward to welcoming him back for our November meeting so that all of you can meet him and enjoy his musicianship.

PRS Music Library

For the month of November a selection of ARS and Schott editions will be available at the monthly meeting to be checked out from the library. They are wonderful editions who offer a whole variety of music. Check it out, enjoy and bring it back next month!
