Guest speaker Charles Morgan, president of West Windsor’s Township Council, will talk about a set of “principles” he believes should guide the Princeton Junction Transit Station redevelopment effort to help ensure an open, public process, now that Council has approved roughly 350 acres as an Area in Need of Redevelopment. The principles would be applied in a resolution to both processes and goals of the development effort and to the resolution approved by the West Windsor Township Council on Dec. 21, 2005. It is anticipated that Mr. Morgan will be moving these principles at an upcoming Council session; this meeting will provide an opportunity for residents to learn more about the Redevelopment Area designation, seek answers to questions raised during or following the 12/21/05 council meeting, as well as provide input on the principles resolution.
The talk and discussion is scheduled for Thursday, January 5th at 7:00 p.m. at the West Windsor Township Senior Center in the municipal complex on Clarksville Road.
The moderated discussion will serve to provide the public with more information and opportunity for conversation and participation on the issues surrounding the possible development of a transit village, which the mayor of West Windsor is proposing for the Princeton Junction train station. The program is sponsored by the Princeton Junction Neighborhoods' Coalition in its continuing series to engage, inform and involve the community on important issues. The event it is free and open to the public.
An attorney and a partner with Spring Consulting Group, LLC, Mr. Morgan has more than thirty years of experience in the life insurance, financial services, health care, and benefits industries and clients include employers, insurers, banks, and other financial services companies. Mr. Morgan has prepared benefits-related testimony in both the United States Congress and state legislatures. He has testified at numerous hearings conducted by the IRS and various State Senate, Assembly, and regulatory committees, and he has authored legislation that has been enacted into law by several states. Morgan has written numerous articles on medical benefits and life insurance product issues and is a frequent speaker and panelist on retiree medical funding and other nonqualified benefit plan topics.
Prior to joining Spring Consulting Group, LLC, he was the founder and President of PruBenefit Funding, a Prudential Financial business that grew to more than $14 billion in assets during his tenure. He was previously the practice leader for the ERISA and employee benefits tax practices at Prudential. Before joining Prudential, Morgan was affiliated with Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company in Springfield, Mass., and the Law Offices of Cornelius, Collins, Higgins and White in Nashville, Tennessee. As a criminal defense attorney, Mr. Morgan has conducted more than 100 trials.
Mr. Morgan received his JD from the Vanderbilt University School of Law and his MBA from Pepperdine University, and he received a BA from Wesleyan University. Morgan obtained his CLU and Pension Certificate from the American College. He is licensed as an Investment Company and Variable Contracts Products Principal and an Investment Company and Variable Contracts Products Representative (Series 7, 26, and 63 as well as state insurance licenses) and he is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts, New Jersey and Texas.
In local community involvement, Mr. Morgan is a former Scoutmaster of Pack 66 and coached basketball, soccer and softball. All of Mr. Morgan’s children, now grown, attended the WW-P schools, and he has six grandchildren.
