Resources for Tutors

We would welcome you as a new volunteer, and promise that it will be a rewarding and challenging experience. Click here to see what some of our tutors have to say about their experiences teaching adults to read. You can also view student writings from our annual We Speak anthology.

All of our volunteer tutors are required to complete a comprehensive, 21-hour training course to learn to fundamentals of reading instruction. The training course is offered several times a year at a public library in Mercer County. Click here for a course description.

Click here for information about registering for an upcoming training course.

Tutors are matched with adults who need reading help based on schedule, meeting location and other preferences. Click here for a list of tutoring sites and community partnerships.

If you decide you are interesting in becoming a literacy tutor (and we hope that you do!), this web site is here to help you be successful. Click here to explore the resources for tutors on our web site. If, however, you decide the literacy tutoring is not for you, click here to learn about other ways that you can support LV-MC.
