Founded in 1979, LV-MC trains, coordinates and supports the efforts of a dedicated group of volunteer literacy tutors. Our volunteers provide free, confidential literacy tutoring services to adult residents of Mercer County at a variety of locations including the public libraries, workplace sites, churches and retirement homes. LV-MC provides comprehensive training in the skills necessary to teach and motivate adult students. A 21 hour tutor training course is held several times a year. We are committed to enabling adults with limited literacy proficiencies to achieve personal, job-related, community and family-oriented goals. The organization provides periodic tutor training, utilizing and supporting volunteers in the delivery of free services. NOTE: This site is being redesigned from the ground up. Thank you. |
