The Site of the Week Award is Back!
Back by popular demand is the Incredible Art Sites section! From the early days of IAD, sites were reviewed every week and given the site-of-the-week award. Submit a site by clicking on the "Submit a Site" link at the upper left side of this page. Sites that get multiple suggestions or sites that have great impact on the art world will once again be awarded here. If you find a broken link, let me know. In most cases we can at least link it to the internet archive of the site. The sites that existed before the archive was begun or have a "robot" file that keeps them from being archived are gone forever. Following is a list of criteria that is considered when awarding a site:

Purpose
The web is filled with over 8 billion websites (according to Google) and finding quality sites can be a chore. It takes a long time to scan through websites to find what you need. In addition, there are many websites and website designers that go largely unnoticed. Artists and teachers may spend years creating a website and devoting much of their spare time at their endeavor. This award functions basically two ways. One is to make artists, students, teachers and parents aware of great art websites on the internet. The other is to recognize the hard work that goes into each of them.
All winners of the site of the week award will get a banner e-mailed to them for placement on their website. In addition, they will be featured here. Because The Incredible Art Department appears as #1 and #2 on many Google searches, this will no doubt increase the visitors to their sites.
Where do I Find Featured Sites?
You may find featured websites on the Incredible Art Department by navigating the links on menu column on the left. As you can see, the archive goes back to the year 1996. That was the year IAD first began recognizing websites. As you can see, there is a three year period where great sites were not reviewed.
I hope you enjoy the fact that this feature is returning. Many of you have e-mailed me requesting that this return. Feel free to give me any feedback as well as suggest a site by clicking on the "Suggest a Site" link at the upper left side of this page.
