Tapped In - Online Community for Educators

Pam Stephens uses Tapped in with Art Education Students

Tapped In isn't just chat.  It has areas to post notes, links and documents.
I found it to be very useful and required that my students check my Tapped
In electronic classroom a minimum of one time a week.

For example, when the upper-level students were writing their philosophy of
teaching art, I posted my own philosophy to the bulletin board.  When
another class was looking into the National Content Standards and the AZ
Standards, I posted links to both.

But, the site also has online training that is very worthwhile.  I required
my practicum students to attend one training session per month.  Like you, I
find chatting in real time difficult because my typing skills are not as
good as they should be.  Tapped In has some short cut buttons that help with
that, but I found that my students were very open to this method.  It's a
part of their culture as much as visiting in the Student Union was a part of
ours.
