Lesson Plan: Ceramic Masks
Grade level: Elementary (these are fifth grade)
materials:

Procedures:
1. Drape slab over

- Use plastic wrap or newspaper as a separator.
2. Shape opening around eyes and mouth. Build up nose. Add sculptural elements - coil details, ears, etc. Texture if desired. (similar steps as above)
3. Remove from plastic mask form and support with newspaper till leather hard.
Allow to get to bone dry stage and bisque fire (this project could also be done with air dry clay)
1. Paint with Tempera Paint
(may be clear coated when dry) or acrylics. Add paint marker details - accent with Puffy Paint.
2. Add foil tooling accents. Hot glue foil or use Tacky glue and masking tape.
