Environmentalism is a broad social, political and philosophical movement. In recognition of humanity as a participant in ecosystems, the environmental movement is centered on ecology, health, and human rights. Its history long antedates Rachel Carson and global climate disruption although the latter are probably the most responsible for the widespread awareness of the need for our doing much more to preserve our world and our species. Some of us are now aware that how we choose to dispose of our bodies when we die will have great consequences for the children who will inherit our environment.
