Rim-A-Ma-Gig

Background :    Children suffer now and in later physical and cognitive growth  if they do not have the daily opportunity for small and large motor activities (physical exercise.)   On cold, inclement days, this may be difficult.  The following is an inexpensive game you can make together that is not too noisy.

Objective:  Young student and family shall enjoy an activity in which they make and enjoy a game together.  Young student will have opportunity to for small and large motor development.

Product:  A round circle cut from the outside portion of a paper plate that can be used as part of a lightweight, non-destructive throwing game.   Additional rims for family members may be constructed and, if desired, a target made from a box or other item.  A oatmeal box is ideal.

Materials Needed:  Paper plate(s), scissors  (blunt for young student), decorations as desired.  For game target, an object such as an oatmeal box.

Process:  Adult family member may punch a “starter” hole between rim and inside portion of the paper plate.   Young student cuts around the plate between the rim and the inside.  The rim becomes the game piece.   The cutting, of course, need not be perfect.  Remember to use encouraging words.  Young student may decorate as desired.

Vocabulary words: rim, paper plate, inside, outside.

Skills/Learning Styles/Intelligences: Small (fine) motor control (cutting); Large (gross) motor control (throwing), Special skills:  eye-hand coordination, aiming and throwing.  Visual, Spatial, Linguistic, Social Development (taking turns at game).

Extended Learning:  Family members made “rim-a-ma-jigs” and take turns throwing at target.  Use a variety of paper plates if available and compare sizes, weights, and their effects on throwing.

Borde – Ma-gico

Historía: Los niños sufren ahora y en su crecimiento físico y cognoscitivo,  si no tienen la oportunidad diaria para actividades de motricidad finas y gruesas (el ejercicio físico.) En frío o días inclementes, ésto puede ser difícil. El siguiente es un juego barato, que ustedes pueden hacerlo juntos y  que no es demasiado ruidoso.

Objetivo:   El estudiante y la familia disfrutarán de una actividad de realizar el juego juntos. El estudiante tendrá oportunidad para al desarrar  la motricidad fina y gruesa.

Producto:   Un círculo que se puede cortar de la porción exterior de un plato de papel, que se puede utilizar como parte del  juego que se puede lanzar de forma ligera. Los bordes adicionales para los miembros de la familia pueden ser construidos, si usted lo desea, de una caja o el otro artículo. Una caja de cereal o  de avena es ideal.

Materiales que necesita: Plato(s) de papel, tijeras (sin mucho corte para el estudiante), decoraciones según lo deseado. Para la blanco del juego, un objeto tal como una caja de cereal o de avena.

Proceso:  Un adulto puede perforar un agujero del "arrancador" entre el borde y la porción del interior del plato de papel. El estudiante corta alrededor del plato entre el borde y el interior. El borde se convierte en una parte del juego. El corte, por supuesto, no necesita ser perfecto. Recuerde utilizar palabras que animan al niño. El estudiante puede adornar según lo desee.

Vocabulario:  borde, plato de papel, adentro (interior), afuera(Exterior).

Destrezas/estilos de aprendizaje/inteligencias:  Control de la motricidad fina (cortar –pegar), y motricidad gruesa (lanzar), Especiales destrezas: coordinacion ojo-mano,  dirigir y lanzar.  Visual, Liguistico/alfabetico, desarrollo social (tomar turnos en el juego).

Continuo aprendizaje: La familia pueden seguir haciendo "borde- magicos" y tomando turnos para lanzarlo hacia el blanco. Utilice una variedad de platos de papel y si es posible compare los tamaños, los pesos y sus efectos cuando son lanzados.
