Paper Chains
|
Background
:
Stringing pieces of cut paper together to make a
decorative chain is a holiday tradition. We
especially value the fact that the links in the chains can
be of any size, weight, color, etc., but all join together
to make the beautiful whole.

Objective: Young student and family shall enjoy an
activity in which they form a paper chain of at least ten
links (loops) to be brought to Better Beginnings to be
added to other chains to form a long decorative community
chain.
|
|
Materials
Needed: Paper
of any color or colors, marked with long, straight lines
so that the young student can follow the line to cut; Scissors,
blunt Glue or Tape with which to attach the links to
form a circle and to attach to the chain. Pencil or Pen
with which to write family name and student’s
name. Choice: Glitter or other items with which to decorate the
links.

Process:
Family
member and young student choose paper to be used.
Family member draws straight line for young student
to cut along. Length and width of cut
determines size of link. After at least ten
are cut, show young student how to make each link
into a circle, and then how to insert the link before
attaching in order to form chain. Be sure to
measure, count links, print names on product.

Skills/Learning Styles/Intelligences: Fine
motor control (cutting, attaching), kinesthetic, Logic/
Mathematical (counting, measuring), Social/ emotional
(cooperative effort), Linguistic/ literacy (printing
names).

Extended Learning: *Patterning:
Have three colors of links, such as red, yellow,
blue. Encourage young student to attach the links in
a pattern. *Literacy / Socialization: Ask
young student for something to print on one or more of the
links, such as, “Have a happy day.” *Family
Sharing: Make together many more chains for
decorating your own home. Special: Sharing
Time: Better Beginnings no longer gets
reimbursed by the government for morning snacks.
However, since we know little children need to eat a
little at a time and frequently, we have chosen to
continue to offer the a.m. snack, based entirely on
donations. Please make it a habit to bring in
a nutritious snack for your young student to share with
his classmates once a month. It can be something you
have prepared together, or a box of crackers is just
fine. Minute Main used to provide the juice, but now
members of local
churches are doing that.

Cadenas de Papel
|
Historía:
La encadenación de pedazos
de papel cortado junto para hacer una cadena decorativa,
es una tradición del día de fiesta. Valoramos
especialmente el hecho de que los acoplamientos en las
cadenas pueden ser de cualquier tamaño, peso, color,
etc., pero todos disfrutan juntos para hacerlo hermoso.

Objetivo: El estudiante y la familia
disfrutaran de una actividad en la cual formaran una
cadena de papel de al menos 10 acoplamientos (lazos) que
se traerán a Better Beginnings para ser unidas a otras
cadenas hasta formar una cadena larga y decorativa de la
comunidad.
|
|
Materiales que necesita: Papel
de cualquier color o colores, marcado con las líneas
largas, rectas de modo que el estudiante pueda seguir la
línea cuando haga
el corte. Tijeras, pegamento o cinta con los cuales para
unir las tiras para formar un círculo y unirlos a la
cadena. Lápiz o esfero con los cuales va a escribir el
nombre de los miembros de la familia y el nombre del niño.
Opción: escarcha u otros
artículos con el que pueda adornar las tiras de papel.

Proceso: El miembro de la familia y
el niño eligiran el papel que van a utilizar. Usted puede
ayudarle a trazar la línea recta para que el niño la
corte mas adelante. Lo largo y el ancho del corte
determina el tamaño de la tira de papel. Después de
haber cortado por lo menos 10, muestrele al estudiante cómo
unir las dos puntas haciendo un anillo y entonces cómo
insertar la otra tira de papel antes de unir para formar
la cadena. Este seguro medir, contar las tiras y escribir los
nombres en los anillos.

Destrezas/estilos de aprendizaje/inteligencias: Control de la motricidad fina (cortar –pegar),
arte creativo, corporal, matematico (contar-medir),
Social/emocional(cooperacion – esfuerzo), Liguistico/alfabetico(escritura
de nombres).

Continuo aprendizaje: * Modelar: Tenga
tiras de 3 colores, tales como: rojo, amarillo, azul.
Anime al niño a que una las tiras siguiendo un patrón(
siempre el mismo orden). * Instrucción/Socialización:
Pida al niño por algo que pueda escribir o pegar en donde
diga por ejemplo: "tenga
un feliz dia". * El Compartir De la Familia:
Hacer juntos muchas cadenas mas para adornar su hogar. Especial:
Compartir Tiempo: Better Beginnings consigue un no muy
gran reembolso por parte del gobierno para los snacks de
la mañana. Sin embargo, como sabemos los niños necesitan
comer poco a la vez y con frecuencia, hemos elegido
continuar ofreciendo el snack de la mañana, basado
enteramente en donaciones. Por favor como hábito de ahora
en adelante, traigale un snack nutritivo para su niño
para compartir con sus compañeros una vez al mes. Puede
ser algo que hayan preparado juntos o una caja de galletas
esta bien. La Compañía Minute Main nos proporcionaba los
jugos, pero ahora los miembros de iglesias locales lo están haciendo.
