Background:
On
July 4, 1776, the colonies that are now the United States of
America claimed independence from Britain and Democracy was
born. Every day thousands leave their homeland to come to the
"land of the free and the home of the brave" so they can begin
their American Dream.
The United States is truly a diverse nation made up of dynamic
people. Each year on July 4, Americans celebrate that freedom
and independence with barbecues, picnics, and family
gatherings. Through the Internet we are learning about and
communicating with people of different nations, with different
languages and different races throughout the world. Bringing
the world closer with understanding and knowledge can only
benefit all nations.

Objective: Young
student and family members will enjoy making a "star spangled"
hat.

Materials
Needed:
Stars
(cut out or to be cut out) of paper or craft foam. Strip of
paper or craft foam that is 2 1/2- by 26-inchs, tape, red,
white, and blue craft foam or paper. Scissors, 18 pipe
cleaners or plastic straws, double sided tape or glue, Paper
clip |

Process:
Start
with a a 2 1/2- by 26-inch strip of blue craft foam or paper
for the headband (you may have to attach two strips end to end
with vinyl tape to make it long enough.)
*Next,
cut out nine or more pairs of stars from red, white and blue
foam or paper.
*If
desired,
glue the stars around the headband.
In alternative,
make a stem for each pair of starts from twisting pipe
cleaners or plastic straws and then gluing or taping the stars
around the top; then trimming the stems to various lengths and
taping or gluing them inside the headband.
*Finally,
wrap the band around young student’s head and paper clip the
overlapped ends. |

Obtain a pertinent book from Library and read it to young
learner;

long pieces of paper to make a decoration or shaker.

Historía: El
dia 4 de Julio del 1776, los colonos que estan ahora en los
Estados Unidos de America clamaron independendia de Bretaña y
nacio la democracia. Cada dia miles dejan sus tierras para
venir a “la tierra de la libertad y la casa de los valientes”
para alcanzar el Sueño Americano.
Los Estados Unidos es realmente una nacion diversa hecha de
gente dinamica. Cada año en Julio 4, los americanos celebran
la libertad y la independencia con barbacoas, picnics y
reuniones familiares. Atravez del internet nosotros estamos
aprendiendo acerca y comunicandonos con personas de otras
naciones, con diferentes lenguajes y diferentes razas atravez
del mundo. Trayendo al mundo cerca con entendimiento y
conocimientos que solo pueden beneficiar a todas las naciones.

Objetivo:
Los jovenes estudiantes y los miembros de sus familias
disfrutaran juntos realizar un sombrero de “estrellas”. |

Materiales
que necesita:
Estrellas (recortadas o para ser recortadas) en papel o icopor.
Tira de papel o icopor que sean 2 1/2- por 26-pulgadas,
cinta pegante, rojo, blanco y azul de icopor o papel, Tijeras,
18 sorbetes, cinta pegante o pega, Clips. |

Proceso: Comenzar
con una tira 2 1/2- x 26-pulgadas de papel o icopor azul para
la banda de la cabeza (a lo mejor tenga que pegar dos tiras
para hacerlo lo suficientemente grande)
*Seguido,
corte nueve o mas pares de estrellas de icopor o papel rojo,
blanco y azul en icopor o papel.
*Si
asi lo decide,
pegue las estrellas alrededor de la banda para la cabeza.
Como alternativa,
haga las antenas para cada par con sorbetos plasticos
entonces pegue las estrellas alrededor en la parte de arriba;
recorte las antenas en varios tamaños y peguelas en la parte
de adentro de la banda para la cabeza.
*Finalmente,
envuelva la banda alrededor de la cabeza de su joven
estudiante y luego peguelo. |

Obtenga un libro pertinente en la librería y lealo a sus

hagale un sobrero para cada uno!

Busque una parada o evento al que pueda asistir y usar su
sombrero!

Haga otras decoraciones, con las que tenga que recortar
estrellas y pedazos grandes de papel para hacer una
decoracion o agitador.
