Land Transportation:
Riding on the Bus
Background :
Young students at Better Beginnings have been enjoying a unit of study
about transportation, from horses to helicopters. Some of our
students will be going to the "big" school
(Kindergarten) in the fall. Practicing rules now - perhaps in
the car - will help them learn more about "keeping myself
safe":
Always speak quietly so the driver will not be distracted.
Never throw things on the vehicle or out the windows.
Hands should be kept to yourself.
As the time approaches when bussing will occur,
you might add these:
Keep the aisles clear.
Never play with or block the emergency exits.
Obey the bus driver and, if there is one, the attending
adult

A drawing or painting
illustrating safety rule(s)

Materials
Needed: Whatever is desired,
paper, colored pencils, markers, crayons, paints, etc |

Process: Provide young student
with materials for drawing. Ask him to tell you about his
drawing, and dictate the "story" to you to print, if
desired. Remember that drawing is young student's way of
taking notes and imprinting memory; it also develops his
thinking skills.

Los estudientes de Better
Beginnings, han estado disfrutando de una unidad de estudio sobre el transporte de
caballos a los helicopteros. Algunos de nuestros estudiantes
iran a la escuela "grande" ( Pre-escolar) en Otono.
Practicando las reglas - quizas en el carro - les ayudara a
aprender m6s sobre "mantenernos seguros":
Hablar siempre en voz moderada, asi el conductor no
sera distraido.
Nunca lance objetos dentro del vehiculo o fuera de el por las ventanas.
Asegurese de tener las manos siempre seguras, no fuera del carro.
Como el tiempo se
aproxima, es hora de dar aviso y
usted podria agregar lo siguiente:
Mantener
los pasillos limpios.
Nunca juegue o bloquee las salidas de emergencia.
Obedezca al conductor del autobus y a los adultos que se
encuentran en el bus.

Un
dibujo o una pintura que ilustra las reglas de seguridad

Materiales que necesita: Como
usted lo decida: papel, lapices de colores, marcadores,
crayones, pinturas etc. |

Instrucciones: Provea
al nino los materiales para dibujar. Pidale que le cusnte
sobre el dibujo que realizo y cuentele la "historia"
para escribirla si usted lo desea. Recuerde que el dibujo es
una forma para que el estudiante se interese en tomar nota y
mantener en memoria; ademas les desarrolla sus habilidades de
pensamiento.
