Learning to Count
in Spanish and English

   

Background:   Young students learn well through rhythm and music.  Last week, we made a rhythm instrument, the paper plate tambourine.  This week, families and children may learn a rhyme together, chanting it rhythmically together.

Objective:  Families will enjoy learning counting rhyme together, in two languages.

Materials Needed: The following rhyme located at http://www.preschoolrainbow.org   A bilingual counting song in Spanish and English Uno, dos, y tres, Cuatro, cinco, seis. Siete, ocho, nueve, Cuento hasta diez. La la la la la;  La la la la la, La la la la la;  La la la la la. La la la la la;  La la la la la. One, two, and three, Four, five and six. Seven, eight, and nine, I count to ten. La la la la la;  La la la la la. La la la la la;  La la la la la. La la la la la;  La la la la la.

Process:  Recite the rhyme together throughout the week-end.

Skills/Learning Styles/Intelligences: musical, mathematical, rhythm, literacy

Extended Learning:   Count objects as you recite the rhyme. Ask young student to draw a picture of a given number of items; print the appropriate numeral on the drawing.

Character Development: Young students are learning what respect means.  They are hearing that we should treat others as we want to be treated.  Your teachers will appreciate any activities you can suggest to help them learn this trait.

Historía:  Los jovenes estudiantes aprenden mejor con rimas y musica.  La semana pasada, nosotros hicimos instrumentos de rimas, comn platos de papel como tambores. Esta semana, las familias y los niños aprenderan una rima juntos.

Objetivo:   Las familias disfrutaran aprender a contar rimas juntos, en dos lenguajes.

Proceso:  Recite la rima juntos en el fin de semana.

Destrezas/estilos de aprendizaje/ inteligencias: musica, matematicas, rimas, alfabeto.

Continuo aprendizaje: Cuente los objetos mientras recita. Pregunta a los jovenes estudiantes que realicen un dibujo sobre un numero de articulos;  escriba el numero apropiado en el dibujo.

Desarrollo de Caracter:  Los jovenes estudiantes aprenderan el significado de respecto.  Ellos estan escuchando que nosotros debemos tratar a otros como nos gustaria ser tratados. Los maestros apreciaran cualquier actividad que usted les pueda sugerir para ayudarles a ellos a aprender este tema.
