Hanging Snake:

Activity :    This activity in which the young student cuts around and around helps to develop fine motor skill. His/her first experience usually causes amazement as he/she discovers what happens when cutting a spiral. Hang the "snake" to blow in the breeze. We have used illustrations and adapted instructions from daycareabout.com. We left out buttons and other small items for safety reasons.

Materials needed:   Paper plate or other paper, Pencil, Crayons, paint or markers Scissors, Yarn or string, Construction paper.

Instructions:    1. Use the pencil to poke a hole in the center of the plate. Make a head oval in the center and draw a spiral with a pencil as illustrated above on one side of the plate. For younger students, make the lines further apart. 2.  Keep the lines about same width apart, except at end, where it things out for the tail. 3.  Yong child decorates the paper plate or drawing, as desired. 4.  Young child cuts as nearly on lines as possible. Do not comment if not exact … it's not important. The practice and the joy of making a decoration together are. 5.  Add any other decorations, such as forked tongue, flowers. Tie strings through a hole in the snake's head.

Skills/Learning Styles/Intelligences:   Fine Motor Control, Visual/Spatial, Creativity, Science, Naturalist. (Fine Motor Development refers to young student's ability to move the small muscles in the hands and wrists with dexterity. The objective: The young student will be able to perform self-help tasks, and manipulate small objects, such as scissors and writing tools ).

Serpientes colgantes

Actividad:  En esta actividad, cuando el niño corta en circulo le ayuda a desarrollar la destreza de motricidad fina.  Usualmente la primera experiencia al cortar en espiral es de asombro.  Colgar la serpiente y que vuele con la brisa se hace mas especial para ellos. Nosotros hemos usado dibujos e instrucciones de daycareabout.com Dejamos algunas indicaciones por fuera por rezones de seguridad.

Materiales que necesitarán:    Plato de papel u otro papel, lápiz, crayones, marcadores o pintura, Tijeras, lana, papel de construcción.

Instrucciones:     1.  Use el lápiz para habrir un hueco en el centro del plato, dibujando un óvalo alrededor de la perforación y seguir en espiral como se muestra en la figura final. 2.      Tratar de que las lineas del espiral mantengan la misma distancia, excepto la del final que se une por ser la cola. 3.       El niño debe decorar la figura de la serpiente como el desee. 4.      Luego y con su ayuda el niño debe cortar con las Tijeras sobre la linea, tratando de que sea lo mas fácil posible sin comentarle que no siguió la linea, eso no es importante. 5.  Si desea puede agregarle  una lengua que termine en dos puntas, flores.  Atele una cinta a la perforación hecha en la cabeza de la serpiente, para poderla colgar.

Destrezas/estilos de aprendizaje/inteligencias:    Control de la Motricidad fina, visual/especial, creatividad, ciencia, naturalistica. (Desarrollo de la motricidad fina se refiere a la habilidad de mover los músculos pequeños de las manos y las muñecas con destreza. El objetivo: los niños deben tener la habilidad  paara desempeñar  por el mismo las tareas y manipular pequeños objetos como Tijeras o herramientas de escritura).
