Snowflakes Cutting

|
Background:
No two snowflakes are alike. They do take
similar forms and have six points. Children enjoy
cutting out paper snowflakes and enjoy the surprise they get
when they unfold their creation.
|
|
Objective: Family and young student will have fun cutting
out snowflakes.
|
|
Materials
Needed:
Lightweight paper of choice, scissors
|
|
Process:
Young student folds a piece of paper three times,
more or less, and then makes cuts, some straight, some curved.
There is, of course, no wrong way. Unfold. Count
the points. Are there six? Less? More?
Continue experimenting to see how many different
“snowflakes” he can make.

|
Skills/Learning Styles/Intelligences: Fine Motor, Science, Counting.
|
|
Extended Learning:
-
The next time it snows, catch some real
snowflakes on a piece of black construction paper.
Use a magnifying glass to have a look at the flake.
Snowflakes may also be caught on the sleeve or the
windshield of a car.
-
Learn a snowflake finger play that uses
counting, such as
Five
Little Snowflakes
Five little
snowflakes
Dancing here and there.
Then one little snowflake blew away in the air!
Four little snowflakes
Dancing here and there.
Then one little snowflake blew away in the air!
Continue to zero.
Zero little snowflakes
Not one to be found.
Cause five little snowflakes have fallen to the ground!

Recortar Copos de Nieve
|
partes, mas o menos, entonces hacen cortes, algunos derechos,
otros curvos. Asi es, seguro, no hay forma
equivacada. Desdoblelo. Cuente las puntas. Son
seis? Menos? Mas? Continue experimentando para ver
cuantas formas diferentes de “Copos de nieve” pueden hacer.
|
|
Destrezas/estilos de aprendizaje/inteligencias: Motricidad Fina, Ciencias, Conteo.
