American clergyman and Nobel Prize winner, one of the principal
leaders of the American civil rights movement...

Background:
Dr. King’s birth is celebrated on January 17th
this year. He is a principal leader of the U.S. civil rights
movement. It is a time when we remember his leadership
in the struggle for the freedom, equality, and dignity of all
races and peoples; also when we contemplate the message of
change through nonviolence.
|
|
Objective: Each family and child to participate in an art
project that demonstrates the beauty of a combination of
colors, and reflect on the ways in which we are alike and the
individual gifts that each of offers to the whole.
|
|
Materials
Needed:
Your
choice of paint, paper, scissors, crayons, markers.
|
|
Process: Draw around each child’s hand, encourage child
to cut a circle or other shape around the hand, then color it
as desired with favorite color. In alternative, paint
child’s hand with watercolor paint and have him print his
hand on the paper. Each hand will be joined with others
in the classroom to form a rainbow of hands.

Skills/Learning Styles/Intelligences: Fine motor control, kinesthetic,
Social/Emotional.
|
|
Extended Learning: Dr. King made a famous speech called “I have a
dream.” Talk together about a dream you and your
family may have. Ask young student to make a drawing of
the dream. If you choose, ask him to dictate a story
about the dream and print it on the picture.

Historía: El cumpleaños del Dr. King’s es celebrado en
enero 17th de este año. El es un lider principal del
movimiento de derechos civiles de U.S. Este es el tiempo
cuando nosotros recordamos su liderazgo en su lucha por la
libertad, igualdad y dignidad de todas las razas y personas;
tambien cuando nosotros comtemplamos el mensaje del cambio a
la no violencia.

Objetivo: Cada familias y niño participen en un projecto
de arte que demuestre la belleza de la combinacion de colores,
y refleje sobre manera que nosotros somos semejantes y el
regalo individual que nosotros ofrecemos a la intregridad.

|
Materiales
que necesita:
Su pintura preferida, papel, Tijeras, crayolas,
marcadores.
|
|
Proceso: Dibujar alrededor de la mano de cada niño,
alentar al niño que corte un circulo u otra figura al rededor
da la mano, luego coloreelo con su color favorito.
|
|
Destrezas/estilos de aprendizaje/inteligencias: Control motor fino, Kinestesico, Social/Emocional.
|
|
Continuo aprendizaje: Dr King hizo una frase famosa llamada “I have a
dream.” Habla acerca de
los sueños que tu o tu famila hayan tenido.
Preguntale a los jovenes estudiantes que hagan un
dibujo acerca de sus sueños Si tu escoges, preguntale
que te dicte una historia acerca del dibujo
qu e hizo y escribelo en el papel.
